How CTP Works
The Wells Reserve Coastal Training Program (CTP) maintains close partnerships with local communities, agencies, and experts, while collaborating with colleagues based at the other National Estuarine Research Reserves. The CTP team can usually recommend a way to find desired information.
CTP provides technical assistance through:
- meeting facilitation
- stakeholder engagement
- training design
- evaluation design
CTP trainings and workshops focus on:
- water quality and pollution
- watershed planning and management
- development, land use, and conservation planning
- geographic information and global positioning systems
- climate change and sea level rise
- habitat restoration, biodiversity, and invasive species
(Wells Reserve facilities are available for meetings, workshops, conferences, and presentations.)
Watershed Councils
The Coastal Training Program facilitates the creation of Watershed Councils when communities prepare to implement their Watershed Management Plans. Watershed Councils represent regional efforts to coordinate water planning, management, and protection. Watersheds with active councils include:
- Branch Brook, Merriland River, Little River
- Kennebunk River
- Spruce Creek
