EARTH DAY FAIR AT THE WELLS RESERVE AT LAUDHOLM FARM

WELLS, MAINE - Earth Day is coming, so get out, breathe fresh spring air, and reconnect with the land and water. A great place to do all this is the Wells Reserve at Laudholm Farm, where you can hike miles of trails, stroll along the beach, or just sit and reflect on your place in this world.

To help you shake away the winter chill, the Wells Reserve is sponsoring a free Earth Day Environmental Fair on Sunday, April 24, from 10 am to 3 pm.

The fair will begin at 10 am with an open service led by the Reverend Carol E. Strecker from the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church of Kennebunk. This intergenerational service, held outdoors weather permitting, will honor our mother the Earth and our responsibility to her.

A presentation on Campaign Earth will follow at 11:30 am. The Campaign Earth mission is to bring everyday people to a new level of personal involvement in critical environmental issues, like global warming.

Throughout the fair, local conservation groups, businesses, schools, and other organizations involved with environmental issues will display information, discuss their work, and demonstrate what they do to make our planet a healthier place.

The Cover Crops, a 4-piece folk-bluegrass band that appeals to all ages, will perform periodically throughout the fair.

Special activities include button making and other activities for kids and guided walks at 1 pm and 2 pm.

Borealis Breads will have lunches for sale. Carpe Diem has donated coffee, so please bring along your mug.

The Earth Day celebration is sponsored by Bay State Gas/Northern Utilities with additional support from Grandy Oats.

The Wells Reserve is located at 342 Laudholm Farm, just off Routes 1 and 9 near the Wells-Kennebunk line. For more information, call (207) 646-1555 or visit www.wellsreserve.org.
