JULY SPECIAL PROGRAMS AT THE WELLS RESERVE

July is a hot month for cool happenings at the Wells Reserve, with special activities for kids and fascinating programs for adults.

Stars of the Sea is the monthly preschool program for kids ages 3 to 5. This introduction to sea life will be Thursday 7/17 at 10 am. The fee is $2 or $3 and reservations are required. FMI 207-646-1555 or wellsreserve.org.

Eight "Just For Kids" programs covering a range of topics are offered on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays this month. These half-day programs are tailored for kids ages 6 to 9 and cost $18 or $24. Reservations are required at 207-646-1555.

  • 7/16 at 8:30 am: Feathered Friends
  • 7/18 at 8:30 am: Dirt Detectives
  • 7/21 at noon: Interesting Insects
  • 7/23 at 8:30 am: Crabs & Other Crazy Crustaceans
  • 7/25 at 8:30 am: Mucking in the Mudflats
  • 7/28 at noon: Sand, Snails & Seaweed
  • 7/30 at 8:30 am: Wacky Wildlife

Curious naturalists of any age will enjoy one of three special programs offered in July. Learn about dragonflies and damselflies (off-site) on 7/12 at 10 am, nature at night on 7/15 at 8 pm, and butterflies and moths on 7/24 at 9:30 am. Each program costs $3 or $5 and advance reservations are required at 207-646-1555.

Free guided tours on salt marshes, history, trees, wildflowers, birds, coastal geology, and nature are offered at the Wells Reserve Monday through Saturday throughout July. Check the calendar at www.wellsreserve.org for the daily schedule and just meet us at the Visitor Center.
